SUBFAMILY DOLICHODERINAE - Genus Dolichoderus Lund

Genus Dolichoderus Lund (1831a: 130) - name only

Mayr (1855: 377) published a description by Förster "in litt" of the genus Hypoclinea; this is at {original description}. This was variously reduced to a subgenus of Dolichoderus or regarded as a junior synonym; the current position is that of junior synonym (Shattuck, 1992c: 66).

André (1881-6: 226) gave notes; these are at {original description}.

Clypeus impressed medially, petiole a thick scale, angled anteriorly.

Egyptian species - Dolichoderus quadripunctatus (Linnaeus).
