{Monomorium clavicorne}André's (1881b) description is at {original description} (illustration unavailable). Mayr (1904b) gave notes on a finding from Sudan, at Kaka, White Nile, by Traegardh; these are at {original description} Santschi's (1915a) description of punica is at {original description}.

{Monomorium clavicorne}The photomontage of the holotype is collated fromhttp://www.antweb.org/specimen.do?name=casent0915416.

{Monomorium clavicorne}The photomontage is of a worker from Senegal, Tambacounda, Dindifa; collector B Ndiaye.

These seem to match Santschi's description and drawings of punicum exactly although it might be questioned as to whether that should constitute a separate species.

{Monomorium clavicorne}The photomontage is of a worker from Ivory Coast, Tai; collector Erena Dupont, ii.2014.

{Monomorium clavicorne}Egypt record - the photomontage is of workers from Egypt, taken by Mostafa Sharaf [perhaps misidentified as carbonarium by Mohamed et al].
