The Glass Industry of Mycenaean Greece

Primary research into the glass industry of Mycenaean Greece is based on the scientific investigation of a wide collection of glasses and vitreous materials. Chronologically, the study covers the principal Mycenaean period, c. 1400-1200 BC. The material under investigation includes glass, faience and 'frits' that found in the palatial workshops and storerooms at Thebes, in cemeteries around the Theban citadel as well as at cemetery sites in the aforementioned area. Results provided strong compositional evidence for glass production at Thebes (Nikita and Henderson 2006) challenging earlier (Haevernick 1960) and more recent views (Tite et al. 2005) about an industry dependent on alien glass-producing centres.

University and National Trust partnership to promote Britain's wild venison

It's cheap, healthy and sustainable and its provenance can easily be traced back to its free-range, organic roots. So why aren't we Brits eating more wild venison?Archaeologists at The University of Nottingham are joining forces with the National Trust to promote the benefits of eating the meat by charting the history of fallow deer herds at their properties, starting at Charlecote Park in Warwickshire.
