Laura Cross-Bardell currently works for CLAHRC on two different projects. The first focuses on the prevention of type 2 diabetes mellitus in South Asians. This is an exploratory study, which involves working with GPs in that population, and conducting interviews to discover information such as dietary and exercise habits, based on past experiences.
The other project involves facilitating pre-conception health. This is another exploratory study, which focuses on the idea that people have worse preconceptions of family health outcomes, particularly maternal health outcomes, if they live in deprived areas. This project involves working with ethnic groups in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire through a series of focus groups to raise awareness of this issue.
