Internships

The creative industries may be competitive but we can help you get your foot in the door with internships, placements and work experience.

Peter Rice Awards

We’re the only UK university to take part in Hollywood internships. You could spend ten weeks on the Disney lot in Los Angeles involved in things such as:

  • First-reading of incoming film and television scripts
  • Collecting audience data and preparing evaluation reports
  • Filming interviews with Hollywood veterans for the archive
  • Training, masterclasses, professional lectures and panels
  • Working front of house at special screenings and industry events

The internships are supported through the generous Peter Rice Award. Peter is former Chair Disney General Entertainment Content and a Nottingham graduate.

The awards are competitive and open exclusively to our students.

Other internships and placements

As a centre for creative activity we often have opportunities presented to us. Recent internships and placements we’ve promoted include:

An internship experience

Jessica Kane (Film, Television and Screen Industries MA, 2017) describes her internship at 20th Century Fox.

Please be aware that study abroad, compulsory year abroad, optional placements/internships and integrated year in industry opportunities may change at any time for a number of reasons, including curriculum developments, changes to arrangements with partner universities or placement/industry hosts, travel restrictions or other circumstances outside of the university's control. Every effort will be made to update this information as quickly as possible should a change occur.
