Student Profiles

Natasha King , PhD Student and Student Administrator for CSSGJ

"Returning to post-graduate study, I have really benefited from the way CSSGJ seminars link real world issues with academic relevance.  The atmospheres at CSSGJ events really foster insightful and passionate group discussions and have helped me develop my own ideas as a result".

Chris Wood, PhD student CSSGJ

"CSSGJ might be hard to say, but the newly-formed centre has been a most important part of my PhD life. As a forum for interaction between all shades of activists and academics on the left, the popular meetings offer a rare chance for these groups to debate. Sometimes we even agree! The lecture series is a chance in the life of a solitary researcher to test ones own opinions and those of others. The role of discussion and collaboration in academic life is often under acknowledged, and I greatly appreciate the possibilities opened up by this very active group."

Jennifer Martinez , PhD student CSSGJ

"Like me, many members of faculty are keenly concerned about justice issues. What is justice? How is justice achieved? I find myself in office hours and at activist meetings discussing these questions with lecturers and professors".
