Students on taught or research masters programmes

Students on taught or research masters programmes may need to act very quickly at the start of their course to meet the recruitment deadlines for graduate programmes. Most of these deadlines will be set around the undergraduate timelines. As most masters courses finish in September with graduation in December, you will need to apply during the early part of your course if you want to begin work as soon as you complete your course.

However, some employers may have later start dates. If you are applying for a specific job you should start to apply for suitable vacancies nearer to the time when you will be available to start work.

PhD students

UCAS applications for medicine and veterinary science close mid October
Large accountancy firms, investment banks and other commercial employers have early closing dates between October and December
Civil Service Fast Stream deadline is the end of October
GTTR applications for primary teacher training close mid December

Spring term
