Business-Related Support
Business related support for organisations is available from a variety of sources.
The Business School’s Community Engagement Programme brings together students, staff and postgraduate student mentors to work on projects in different areas of business and marketing.
The Graduate School placement programme provides organisations with the opportunity to benefit from the expertise of a graduate for a period of time, working on a specific project.
Support for social enterprises (SE) is availlable through the SE internship programme which matches Phd students and early career researchers with social enterprises in need of research support.
In addition, more than 3,000 students express an interest in volunteering with community organisations each year. See the section below for further details.
The University's Careers and Employability Service is able to assist organisations in recruiting undergraduates or graduates from 4 weeks - 12 months periods. Further information can be found on the Careers and Employability website.
Student Volunteers
Each year over 3,000 students sign up to volunteer in the local community. The Student Volunteer Centre matches the needs of charities and community groups from all over Nottingham with the interests and passions of these students. Opportunities range from coaching in local schools to helping organise Christmas parties for older people. Please contact the Student Volunteer Centre if your organisation would like to recruit student volunteers.
Research Partnerships
Research can help with a wide range of issues and interests for any community organisation; from learning more about the history of an organisation to exploring the experiences of people who care for others. Many students carry out research as part of their course and staff also conduct research which may have applications for the community. Please contact us if you would like to explore research options further. We also have a research-related internship programme targeting specifically at social enterprises.
Share Your Knowledge
We are aware that there is a lot of expertise and specialist knowledge within the local community and that the University, with its large student and staff population, could be a source of potential learners. Please contact us if you are interested in giving talks at the University e.g. living with dementia, alcoholism, sexual orientation etc.
Library Services
There are 10 libraries across the University's UK campuses plus those in Malaysia and Ningbo, China. Some services are available to visitors either as individuals or as organisations
Sports Facilities
A range of sports facilities are available to the public at the University Park and Sutton Bonington campuses. This includes use of the swimming pool, fitness suite and outdoor sports courts / pitches.
