Biography

Usman Khalid is an Assistant Professor at the University of Nottingham, Malaysian Campus (UNMC). He received a Ph.D. from Lund University, Sweden in 2016. His research interests include institutional economics, development economics, international trade, and economic growth.

Usman teaches Advanced Development Economics. Previously he has taught Macroeconomic Analysis, Development Economics and Advanced Macroeconomic Analysis at Lund University, Sweden.

Current Research

Usman is interested in multi-disciplinary research. His current research focuses on institutional change and exploring the role of formal and informal institutions in the economic development of the countries. He primarily uses cross-country data and recently developed econometric techniques such as wavelet analysis and identification through heteroskedasticity to study the inter-relationship between different types of institutions and also their relationship with other economic variables like trade openness, FDI and Economic Growth.
