Biography
Mary Bailey is a member of the Centre for Research in Schools and Communities (CRSC) and the Teachers' Work and Lives group. Before joining the university she taught English and media studies in comprehensive schools in London, Leicester and Nottinghamshire, in her last post as a Head of English. She has also tutored for the Open University in education and in cognitive psychology.
Mary is leader of the MA in Education, the MA in Education (Flexible) and the Masters in Teaching and Learning (MTL) programmes. She teaches on these programmes and on the Graduate Teacher Programme (GTP). She also supervises research students working for MPhil and PhD degrees in areas related to her teaching and research interests.
Mary has presented papers at conferences and has published in the areas of study support, mentor development, partnerships in initial teacher education and literacy. She was also a member of the University of Nottingham teams for the following independent evaluations: NCET Multimedia Portables for Teachers Pilot , Boots Books for Babies, MLA Literature Matters, Derby City Study Support.
She is currently interested in the ways in which teachers and teacher educators work with policy initiatives, particularly those that involve partnerships in different forms.
