Biography

I am a part time postgraduate research student in the field of English for Academic Purposes. I have been an English Language teacher for over twelve years in countries as diverse as Japan, Nepal and Estonia. My passion is for language and I speak many, although am fluent in none. I have been teaching in HE contexts in Australia and in the UK for some time, and currently run the international foundation campus for Coventry University London. I am responsible or the delivery of EAP on post and undergraduate foundation programmes for 5 centres across the country.

Assessment and its consequences, English and applied linguistics. I have been a teacher for twelve years and a teacher trainer for two. I currently teach research methods for post graduate foundation students on MBA pathways. I design EAP courses and assessment for foundation centres .

Current Research

My research field is in second language assessment in the context of English for Academic Purposes courses. I am interested in the internationalisation of tertiary education and the political and economic factors that are influencing the field of language testing, and the effect on the acquisition of academic literacies for international students whose first language is not English.
