The University of Nottingham offers a range of support for international students

The International Office

The exceptional centre for International Students will assist incoming students with a variety of issues including immigration, finance, scholarships, employment, and studying in the UK. They also provide an airport pickup service and a popular welcome week for new students. They also have dedicated staff contacts for students from every different country.

The Graduate School

The University Graduate School runs a series of popular events and activities to welcome new postgraduate students from all over the world. The School also offers financial awards and bursaries for postgraduate students who seek to develop their research abroad. The Graduate School operates a training programme to help students develop transferable and specific academic and practical, real-world skills. Courses include presentation skills, teaching methods, and modern foreign language training, as well as advanced support for students who teach. There is also a dedicated Careers Advisor for postgraduate students.

Postgraduate Students’ Association (PGSA)

The PGSA represents The University of Nottingham’s postgraduate students to the University, nationally, and within the Students’ Union. The association tries to make the postgraduate experience as rewarding as possible.

The PGSA run social events, organise sports teams and look after welfare issues for International Students. Over the past year, the PGSA has arranged exciting trips to Edinburgh, Cambridge and London. These events provide an excellent opportunity to make new friends and explore the city of Nottingham and further across the UK.

International Students’ Bureau

The International Students' Bureau (ISB) is an organisation in the University that is run by international students, for international students. The ISB is managed by a student committee that organises all-year-round cultural, social and sporting events and activities.

Centre for English Language Education

International students who would like assistance with their English language skills or understanding British academic culture can attend the Centre for English Language Education drop-in sessions, held on-campus.

Accommodation

Postgraduate students are offered an exceptional range of self-catered accommodation which is conveniently located on, or close to, our campuses. There is a wide choice of different rooms to meet everyone’s taste and budget requirements, from shared flats to large en-suite studios. All accommodation comes complete with kitchen/diner facilities, and every room is fully furnished with either direct access to the University’s network or broadband internet.
