Biography

Dr Evie Fioratou joined MATCH in January 2012 as a Research Fellow. She is an experienced experimental and applied cognitive psychologist with a research focus on distributed cognition in the lab and 'in the wild', specifically in healthcare (e.g., operating theatre, cytopathology lab). She has previously worked as a Research Fellow in Psychology at the University of Aberdeen with Prof Rhona Flin and at the University of Hertfordshire with Prof Ken Gilhooly. She holds a PhD in Psychology from Lancaster University under the supervision of Prof Tom Ormerod and the late Dr Ed Chronicle.

Research Summary

Distributed Cognitive Systems in the operating theatre and in the pathology lab

Diagnostic processes in anaesthesia and pathology

Learning processes in low and high fidelity simulations in anaesthesia

Funded by: EPSRC, MATCH Programme (2012-2013)
