Current Research

My research interests concern the human-related design issues for in-car computing devices, such as navigation, adaptive cruise control, vision enhancement, collision avoidance, etc. In particular, I am concerned with three core research questions: 1. What are the impacts (in terms of safety, efficiency, comfort, etc.) of in-car computing on the driver? 2. What is the potential for novel user-interfaces in a driving context, for example, speech recognition, head-up displays, gesture-driven interfaces, handwriting recognition, etc.? 3. What methods and measures are appropriate for use in the design and evaluation of in-car computing systems?
