The School of English welcomes applications from students from all over the world.

The School of English is one of the top research departments for English in the UK. All of our 35+ academic members of staff are researching and publishing in their particular field. You will be taught by academic staff at the forefront of their research and will benefit from their expertise in your lectures, seminars and research supervisions.
The University's International team travels to major cities in the world and are in the USA and Canada each year and would be happy to meet with you whenever possible. The University also has a number of international contacts across the world and you are welcome to contact them direct or even arrange to visit them if they are located close to your home.
The University's term dates are available online and list the teaching dates. Please note that teaching and assessment on taught courses starts in late September each year and continues until June the following year. Examination periods are held in January (for modules taught September-December) and in May/June (for modules taught January-May). Re-sit examinations are held during August.
Graduation ceremonies are held twice a year. The July ceremony is held for undergraduate and postgraduate students whose course ends by June and the December ceremony is held mainly for postgraduate students who have completed their Masters course in September or submitted their PhD thesis over the summer.
