Rehabilitation

Academic and research staff members:

The rehabilitation research programme has three primary objectives:

  1. To assess the effects of disability on activities of daily living and social functioning.
  2. To understand the scientific basis of specific rehabilitation interventions and assessments
  3. To evaluate rehabilitation services

 

  • Assessing needs and developing services for people with chronic and progressive disability
  • Interventions in neurological rehabilitation
  • Fatiguing conditions and somatisation
  • Assessment and management of feeding and swallowing difficulties in children and adults
  • Assessment of functional communication by non-specialists and carers
  • Development and evaluation of: rehabilitation outcome measures;  specialist assistive technologies;  community health;  social services assessments
  • Outcome and use of assistive technologies for disabled and/or older people
