The Human Rights Law Centre is pleased to welcome 14 Chevening Fellows from Cambodia, Gambia, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Lebanon, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Phillippines, Russia and Sudan.
The prestigious annual UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) Chevening Fellowship course on Implementing Human Rights Conventions, hosted by the Human Rights Law Centre, is one of a number of tailor-made courses funded by the FCO as part of its flagship professional development and capacity-building scheme. The FCO selects and funds a small group of mid-career professionals from all over the world to study on this three-month intensive course.
The key objective of the course is to provide fellows with an in-depth understanding of international human rights law theory, principles, standards and operation. The course draws upon the expertise of leading academics and practitioners in the field of human rights. Furthermore, visits to NGOs, public bodies and key political and judicial institutions allow fellows to engage with practitioners in their work setting.
