Biography

Martin graduated from the University of Leeds in 1984 with a degree in Law. Qualifying as a solicitor in 1987 he went on to be a senior partner in one of Lincolnshire's largest law firms but took early retirement in 2013 prior to obtaining an MA (Medieval Studies) from the University of Lincoln.

Martin is currently a seminar tutor on the first year BA History module 'Introduction to the Medieval World' (V11219).

Current Research

Currently a second-year PhD Student, and under the supervision of Dr Rob Lutton and Dr Claire Taylor, Martin is undertaking research towards a thesis examining the effectiveness of the late pre-Reformation ecclesiastical courts with particular reference to the diocese of Lincoln. He has also worked with Professor John Beckett and the Centre for Hidden Histories Project as a Research Affiliate examining archival records concerning returning service personnel post World War One.
