Biography

Dr Hazel Melanie Ramos is assistant professor at the University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus and postgraduate tutor for the MSc in Occupational Health and Safety Leadership and MSc in Management Psychology. Hazel completed her undergraduate degree in Business Administration from the University of the Philippines Diliman, followed by an MA in Psychology major in Counseling at the Ateneo De Manila University in the Philippines. She completed her PhD in Clinical Psychology also at Ateneo de Manila University on the life experiences of adolescents with chronic life threatening illness. She is an active member of the Psychological Association of the Philippines and an active volunteer of the Philippine Children's Medical Center's hospice program and UGAT Foundation Inc. She has also worked as a researcher and volunteer for both industrial and clinical organizations. She has taught several degree courses in psychology including experimental psychology, personality theories, statistics, and psychological testing. Hazel's wide research interest has led her to do research on several areas such as pain management, music therapy, HR best practice, and healthcare practices and compliance to medication among chronic hypertensive patients. Her other research interests include resiliency and work-life balance among young adults.

Current Research

My current research interests include topics in occupational and occupational health psychology.Together with colleagues at UNMC, I currently working on an ERGS funded research on health screening and occupational health services among migrant workers in Malaysia. My other research interests include stress, coping and burnout among nurses and allied health professionals, Work-family conflict, expatriate adjustment as well as psychological ownership in family firms.

Past Research

In the past I have done research in the areas of clinical and counseling psychology as well as organizational psychology. Previous research that I have done included Organizational culture, goals and wellbeing, Coping among adolescents with chronic life threatening illness, Pain Management among chronic pain patients and compliance to medication among chronic hypertensive patients.
