About the International Office

The International Office provides a wide ranging support service for key aspects of the University's internationalisation strategy.

The International Office is made up of 40 full and part-time staff as well as a team of Student Ambassadors.

Our Headquarters are located in International House on the Jubilee Campus, and we have offices in Brazil and Mexico (Latin America Office), China (East Asia Office), Malaysia (South East Asia Office) and Ghana (West Africa Office).

An India Office is planned for 2012.

Key roles

Our key roles cover:

  • student exchanges and study abroad
  • non-UK student recruitment
  • international scholarship administration
  • specialist support services for students, staff and academic visitors from overseas
  • relationships with overseas partners and sponsors
  • transnational education initiatives
  • support for the University's overseas campuses

The creation of a distributed organisational structure based on ‘home’ campuses in the UK and two international campuses in China and Malaysia to reflect the University’s commitment to being genuinely international.

Key responsibilities

The Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Internationalisation and the International Office have key responsibilities for:

  • internationalisation
  • supporting the implementation of the internationalisation strategy

The strategy also recognises that internationalisation stretches across all of the different University Management Board portfolios and that all of the University's Professional Services all have a role in supporting Schools in the delivery of the strategy.
