Expertise Summary

Nigel Gravells read Jurisprudence at Trinity College, Oxford, graduating in 1974. After qualifying as a barrister, he returned to Trinity College to take up a College Lectureship. In 1978 he moved to the University of Nottingham, where he established the undergraduate course in European Community Law. Since 1990 he has been Professor of English Law. He has also spent various periods as Visiting Professor at the University of Sydney and at the University of Canterbury (New Zealand), where he is an Adjunct Professor. His major teaching and research interests lie in the fields of property law (principally land law, trusts and landlord and tenant), intellectual property law (principally copyright) and the constitutional law of the European Community/Union (including constitutional issues relating to the United Kingdom's membership).
