Visiting the Reading Room

 

Facilities and resources

• Staff to assist with any queries about our holdings and catalogues.
• Terminals for consulting the Library and Manuscript online catalogues.
• Microfilm and microfiche readers available for general use.
• PC with access to relevant external resources on the Web.
• Cafe selling light refreshments nearby.
• Fully wheelchair accessible area, with adapted toilet facilities nearby.
• Photocopier for use with East Midlands Collection
• Typescript catalogues for those collections not yet catalogued online.

 

Visiting

Readers are most welcome to visit the Reading Room, whether members of the University, or external visitors. If you intend to consult manuscripts and special collections, we strongly urge you to contact us in advance, to let us know the subject of your research, and to make an appointment to view the material, which can then be made ready for you. 

Appointments are not necessary for use of the East Midlands Collection.

 

Availability of items

For various reasons, access to some material may be restricted.  Every effort will be made to give readers advance warning of such problems, to avoid the disappointment of unnecessary journeys.
