Funding Opportunities – Home, European Union and International Students
It is important that you explore your funding opportunities well in advance – we recommend that you begin researching at least a year before your proposed start date.
The funding information page is a good place to start looking for help with the cost of your postgraduate studies. It provides information on scholarships and awards you may be eligible for. You may also visit our Graduate School website for information about funding opportunities, some of which are specific to Nottingham postgraduates.
MSc Scholarships
The School has 5 fully funded MSc scholarships available for students with PhD follow-on funding available.
Three of these, which are specifically targeted at the courses Statistics and Statistics and Applied Probability, are funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and you must therefore meet their eligibility rules.
The scholarships cover the relevant Home/EU (HEU) MSc tuition fee and provide a one-year stipend at the standard Research Council rate, which is currently £13,590. International students will be considered, if eligible, but the fee scholarship will only cover the equivalent of the HEU fee rate and proof of guaranteed, additional funding for the remaining part of the fee will have to be provided.
Students do not need to submit a separate application. Application forms from students who hold, or are expected to attain, a First Class Honours degree (or equivalent) will be reviewed as received and offers will be made accordingly. In light of this, early application is advised.
Students on these scholarships will be guaranteed continuing funding for PhD study at the University of Nottingham in an area of mathematics offered by a member of School staff providing they attain (at least), an MSc “Pass with Merit”. This funding will be for an additional three years and be at the same rate.
