Current Research

Research interests and projects: My prime research interests include in vitro transdermal drug delivery and its prediction using quantitative structure activity relationships (QSARs). When we apply a compound to the skin is it going to permeate through and can we predict the extent of this permeation? Current research in this area is examining the percutaneous permeation of palm oil constituents using human skin and also the potential of the same components to act as transdermal permeation enhancers. My research team are currently working on the following projects funded by MOSTI and MAKNA: MOSTI ScienceFund Project funding: RM91,000 (Project number: 02-02-12-SF0029). The potential of palm oil as a natural penetration enhancer in transdermal therapeutic systems. Awarded February 2008. MOSTI ScienceFund Project funding: RM66,350 (Project number: 02-02-12-SF0020). Percutaneous permeation of palm oil using human skin. Awarded August 2007. MAKNA Project funding: cRM26,000. Formulation of Transdermal Delivery Devices for the Anti-cancer Drugs, Tamoxifen and Fluorouracil. Awarded November 2008.
