Expertise Summary

I obtained my BSc in Microbiology and Biochemistry from the University of Putra Malaysia in 1999. In 2001, I completed my MSc in Molecular Biology at the University of Putra Malaysia working on cloning and expression of hepatitis B surface antigen on M13 and T7 bacteriophages. I gained my PhD from the University of Edinburgh, UK in 2006 characterizing a rat model of post herpetic neuralgia. I spent four years as a postdoctoral research assistant at the Human Immunology Unit, Weatherall Institute Of Molecular Medicine in Oxford. I was working on the role of NKT cells in controlling immunepathology during influenza virus infection.

My main research interests are to understand the role of immune system to prevent immunepathology and host pathogen interaction in disease. Cellular immunology, molecular biology, in vitro & in vivo work. Currently, I am also working in the area of natural product research focussing on immune regulation.
