Doctoral Research Students

Teacher Practitioners (Clinical Educators) 

Our central aim is the refinement of quantitative and qualitative methodologies for social research around medicines use and the pharmacist's role in public health, through empirical application.

Specific research themes are: public health, safety and prescribing quality, medicines usehealth economics and pharmacy education.

Current strengths are in multidisciplinary areas, working with social sciences and other health professional groups within Nottingham, the UK and also with overseas collaborators. We are key members of the University interdisciplinary Centre for Social Research in Health and Health Care.

Uniquely within the pharmacy sector, we are accredited by ESRC (Economic and Social Research council) as a site for the training of masters and doctoral students. 20 PhD students have been associated with the division over the last eight years. Our considerable research output (around 20 refereed papers published each year) is mirrored by recognised excellence in the training of postgraduate students, many of whom have moved on to prestigious positions (see DSRMH Alumni).
