Research Centres and Institutes
The Centre for the Study of Social and Global Justice (CSSGJ) was created in 2005 to provide a focus for research and teaching in relation to the most fundamental question facing us as citizens: how should we live?
The Centre for the Study of European Governance (CSEG) brings together the research of the School in the field of European Politics.
The Centre for British Politics (CBP) was established in 2008 to build on existing expertise in the School and wider University to develop a better understanding of the subject and promote cross-disciplinary perspectives.
CONCEPT
CONCEPT, the Nottingham Centre for Normative Political Theory was launched in 2010 to encourage and promote the School’s research in normative political theory, which explores questions about how political arrangements ought to be. So for example how a society’s main institutions ought to be organised, what kinds of values and principles should be adopted, or how political choices should be made.
The Centre for Conflict, Security and Terrorism (CST)
The Centre for Conflict, Security and Terrorism (CST) was established in 2011. CST aims to promote the study of security politics within the UK and internationally.
Institute of Asia Pacific Studies
The Institute of Asia Pacific Studies (IAPS) is a major focus of inter-disciplinary research on the Asia Pacific region and promotes large-scale co-operation in research, postgraduate teaching, international conferences and resource development. IAPS maintains particularly close relationships with the Institute for Contemporary Chinese Studies and the China Policy Institute.
The Methods and Data Institute (MDI) has been established to deliver highest quality methods training and support for the social science research community across the University and beyond.
