Welcome

The Division of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care is located on the QMC campus close to operating theatres and NHS colleagues. We are linked with colleagues in the department of renal medicine based at the City Hospital campus. The Division has diverse research interests linked by a common purpose of improving outcomes for patients cared for in the operating theatre or intensive care.

NUH team named as Patient Safety Awards 2013 finalists

Description
Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust's Sepsis Action Group has been named as a finalist in the Patient Safety Awards 2013. Marc Chikhani, clinical lecturer in the Division of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care is a member of the shortlisted Group. Their ground-breaking work into improving treatment for patients with severe sepsis has led to them being shortlisted for the prestigious honour.

Kidney dysfunction in obese boys points to need for gender-based therapies, suggests study published in Hypertension

Description
A study on childhood obesity and its effects on kidney function led by Professor Michael Symonds of the Academic Division of Child Health has been published in the October issue of the leading journal Hypertension.
