Current Research

Faecal incontinence is a common condition that is particularly prevalent in the elderly population. Our research currently focuses on understanding the underlying mechanisms involved in continence as well as identifying and developing novel pharmacological treatments for the condition. We also aim to develop more relevant physiological models for our in vitro studies.

Techniques include isometric tension recording, immunohistochemistry, western blotting, radio-ligand binding and autoradiography.
