Teaching Technician, Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences
Before working at the vet school I worked as an animal technician in a busy breeding centre, I spent just over a year with the company within their guinea pig unit. Before this I was at Brooksby Melton College studying a National Diploma in Animal Care, I thoroughly enjoyed this two year course and obtained a good grade and a good knowledge of various different species of animals and breeds including exotic species and farm animals.
I am a level 2 teaching technician based in the clinical skills area. My responsibilities are to make sure that everything is set up and ready for the students and staff, to maintain the labs and the clinical skills area and provide technical expertise within animal handling practicals. I am also responsible for the day to day running of the schools kennels and stables.
