Overseas Resits
Students who are resitting as external candidates or have resit examinations in August/September can be permitted to take these resit examinations away from the University at an overseas institution. This is a special dispensation and there is no right of the student to resit overseas.
Institutions must be approved by the Academic Services Division or equivalent before permission to take overseas resits there will be given. Approved institutions are typically British Council Offices, British Embassies or approved Universities or equivalent.
Policy
i) Schools have the right to require students to return to their home campus to take resit papers.
ii) Overseas resit examinations should normally run simultaneously with Nottingham examinations.
iii) In instances where it is not possible for an examination to run simultaneously with Nottingham, reasonable steps should be taken to protect the integrity of the examinations process.
Requests to vary the start time of an examination should normally only be granted if the examination will overlap with the Nottingham examination and the risk of collusion with other students is minimal.
iv) Permission will not normally be granted for an examination to take place once the Nottingham examination has been completed.
v) Permission will not normally be granted for an examination to take place on a different day to the Nottingham examination.
Exceptions to iv) and v) above would be where a candidate is the only candidate taking an examination or, alternatively, a School has provided an additional resit paper for such candidates.
In cases where it is not possible to grant permission to resit overseas, students so affected will be required to return to their home campus to take their resit papers.
