Academic policy support

A new method of consultation with schools was established from Session 2010/11: the Teaching and Learning Network across all campuses replaces the former Academic Boards and has a workspace on which consultation papers are placed for comment.  Each School is entitled to have a representative on the and the TLN meetings take place three times a Session, organised on a Faculty basis.  School representatives receive copies of all consultation documents for wider dissemination within their School/Department, in order to provide the opportunity for feedback to be given to Teaching and Learning Board.  TLN representatives also receive regular updates on changes to the Quality Manual for distribution to School colleagues as appropriate.  The University's Teaching and Learning newsletter, The Hub, is produced once a semester, and also contains news on consultations and Teaching and Learning initiatives.

The systematic involvement of Schools in this manner should lead to the development of policy which is comprehensible to staff and students, is practicable for Schools to implement, and, perhaps most importantly, has legitimacy within the institution.

Academic Board Consultation & Dissemination documents were introduced in 2003/04 to enhance the communication and consultation process within the University.  These are now replaced by regular circulations to members of the Teaching and Learning Network (TLN).  Previous Academic Board Consultation Documents are available below.
