The Story of The University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus

Several thousands of students from Malaysia have studied at The University of Nottingham since it gained University status in 1948, and there are currently over 700 students from Malaysia studying at the University this academic year.

The University’s distinguished graduates include many prominent members of Malaysian society, including HRH The Sultan of Perak, the late HRH The Yang Di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, former government ministers and leaders of business and industry.

The University of Nottingham’s campus in Malaysia was the first international campus established by a UK University, and in 2010 the campus celebrated its tenth anniversary.

The University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus is both an expression of the University’s very special relationship with Malaysia and a direct response to the Malaysian Government's plans to establish Malaysia as a centre of excellence for higher education for the region and beyond. A partnership between Nottingham and Malaysia was therefore the natural conclusion.
