Background

  • 1988: BA (hons) History and Archaeology
  • 1990-1995: Worked as an Archaeologist and later assistant to the Director at The British School in Rome
  • 1996-2005: Senior Research Associate for the Institute of World Archaeology, in the School of World Arts and Museology at UEA (1996-2005).
  • 2005: MSc Heritage and Environmental Interpretation
  • 1996-present: Worked with the World Bank, UNESCO, national and regional governments and local interest groups to develop archaeological sites as a resource for education, recreation and tourism. To this end I have undertaken diverse activities such as public consultation, visitor surveys, development planning and the implementation of management plans.
  • Previous projects include archaeological assessments of landscapes, standing and buried remains; research excavations and the design and production of museum displays, guide books, visitor trails and information panels.

Research Interests

  • The impact of research-led interpretation on site management, public enjoyment of cultural heritage, cultural and social capital and traditional histories.
  • Current project: Apollonia - developing and preserving a site within the context of rapid regional and national development.
