Our analyses focus upon the compositional, microstructural and isotopic characteristics of ancient metal artefacts and production residues, in order to achieve a comprehensive understanding of their manufacture.
Current collaborative research by staff and students includes the study of ancient copper production and exchange systems in the Near East and Europe, and the development of iron smelting technology in medieval Britain.
