My current project involves in studying folate-related gene expression in rice species. Genes involving in folate biosynthesis pathway in rice are selected to quantify the expression level at each development stages of growing rice especially in grains. Quantitative real time-PCR (QRT-PCR) is used as quantification method and the gene expression profile will be generated. The interesting genes will then be chosen for rice genetic engineering in order to enhance folate level in rice grains (the endosperm part) which normally rice endosperms contain very low amount of folate.
