RESEARCH INTERESTS while in the Bennett Lab

My research in the Bennett lab was focused on the characterisation and cloning of the snakeskin (sks) mutant in Arabidopsis. In sks there is a breakdown in the epidermal cell-cell linkages of the shoot and root that leads to changes in epidermal cell architecture and distribution. These include alterations in pavement epidermal cell shape, stomatal distribution and trichome morphology. I have characterised this mutant using TEM, SEM, cell wall analysis and a variety of GUS marker lines.
