For undergraduate students entering in 2013 the School of Biology offers international students a scholarship. The scholarship has a value of £1000 and will be paid as a contribution towards the Tuition Fee*. Please note that 'International' refers to students who are classified as overseas for fees purposes.
The Scholarship is offered for the first year that the student is registered on the BSc Biology, MSci Biology, BSc Zoology, MSci Zoology, BSc Genetics, MSci Genetics, BSc Human Genetics or MSci Human Genetics undergraduate degree programme within the School of Biology. It is also offered in each successive year that the student is registered on the degree programme, provided an average mark of at least 50% is achieved in the previous year.
*Students who have their tuition fees paid in full by a sponsor may, on request, receive their Scholarship in the form of a cheque for £1000. A letter from the sponsor stating that the tuition fee will be paid in full must be provided before the cheque can be issued.
The School of Biology welcomes well qualified international students and has a long tradition of accepting students from all over the world. To assist with the costs of studying in the United Kingdom, a Scholarship is available to all undergraduate students, applying through UCAS, to whom an offer has been made for one of the degree courses within the School.
The Scholarship is awarded when the student first registers on the degree programme at the start of the academic year and is given a reduction in tuition fees of £1000.
The University also offers all International Students a guarantee of accommodation in either Halls of Residence or Self-catering University Flats, both of which are available on or close to the campuses. Full details of this guarantee are given in the University Prospectus.
New International Students are also offered a free pick-up coach service from London’s Heathrow Airport and free attendance on the University’s Welcome Programme.
