Chief Experimental Officer, Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences
I have over 20years experience in electron microscopy (TEM and SEM), light microscopy and their preparation techniques. My major interests are in confocal microscopy with particular emphasis on live cell imaging.
Research Techniques/Expertise
Interests
My main interests are using confocal microscopy to study membrane receptors. Over recent years I have studied the trafficking and cycling of GFP tagged-receptors using both live and fixed cells. Future directions lie in developing existing confocal systems and the development of our high content screening platforms.
Publications
I have published in a number of journals, for example Development, Developmental Biology, Nature, Nature Neuroscience, Science, Current Biology, Journal of Pathology, British Journal of Pharmocology, Journal of Clinical Investigation and Molecular Therapy.
Equipment/ systems
Expertise in Confocal and live cell imaging, electron and light microscopy, cell culture.
I am in the process of developing a High Content Screening facility incorporating MDC confocal and widefield plate readers, a plate loading robot and image analysis and archiving system.
