Current Research

The main focus of my recent research has been on the Rab GTPases, which control trafficking from the trans-Golgi network to the cell membrane. We have shown that manipulation of these can cause changes in the composition of the cell wall and in important processes such as shelf life of fruit and the ability to break down cell wall material for potential use as biofuel.

In addition, I have worked on other biotechnological problems such as vanilla production in transgenic plants, ethylene production in plants and seed storage proteins.
