Major areas of expertise are focused on the assessment of sulphur compounds for biological activities using in vitro systems. In particular the use of mammalian cell culture models to assess signalling networks linked to cytoprotection and inflammation.
My main teaching activities are in the field of Biochemistry.
Current research focuses on mammalian sulphur metabolism and sulphur compounds and how these influence health and disease processes. Current work involves:
1) The identification of novel sulphur compounds and the exploration of how these influence cell signalling networks in mammalian cells
2) How sulphur rich dietary plants promote healthy ageing in human systems.
3) Gaseous signalling molecules
