Wai Kuan's research area includes genetic improvement in crops, particularly on molecular mechanisms underlying genetic control of agronomic traits. Having experience in biomarker development in oil palm to predict embryogenesis potential, her current interest is currently focusing on functional genomic and transcriptomic studies to assist in crop breeding programmes.
