Part Time Study

As part of our commitment to flexible learning and study options, the School of Biosciences welcomes applications from students who wish to study for a higher degree (MRes, MPhil, PhD) on a part-time basis. A part-time course is one where the length of time required for completion is longer than the expected maximum for a full-time course leading to the same qualification (normally 3 years for postgraduate higher degree courses).

Students who study part-time would normally be expected to take a maximum of 6 years to complete their research with a further 24 months to write-up.

Fees for part-time study are worked out pro rata of the full fee for a particular academic year. Part-time students are not eligible to defer repayment and must pay tuition fees during their course.

Part time study is only available to UK and European Union applicants (or the spouses of international students who are permitted to reside the UK on their spouses student visa).

The MSc in Brewing Science and the PG Certificate in Sensory Science are both taught on a part-time basis.  All other postgraduate taught courses may be available on a part-time basis subject to the approval of the Course Manager.
