MSc Integrative Systems Biology
“My decision to study in a University abroad was in itself a brave one. My time here at The University of Nottingham has made me realize that I made the right choice.
I was an MSc in Microbiology degree holder with a year and a half’s experience of working in a molecular biology laboratory back in India. Multi-disciplinary research, being the latest buzz-word, caught my attention and I applied to the University famous for its prestigious School of Biosciences. I have decided to pursue a PhD in the near future with equal emphasis on dry and wet laboratory work.
I arrived in the UK a week after the classes had started, so was a bit disoriented. My friends and my Professors made this transition smooth and steady. I live in private rented accommodation with other University students and have thus succeeded in making friends from all over the world. Since this is my first time in the UK, I’ve managed to visit places like London, Birmingham, Bath, Oxford, Cambridge and York despite of a busy schedule. Sutton Bonington Campus where my Department is located is an ideal setting for us Postgraduate students who need quiet surroundings and sufficient time for self study.”

MSc Crop Biotechnology and Entrepreneurship
“After finishing my undergraduate degree from the University of Mumbai, India, I wished to continue with my area of interest. As a biology student right from my schooling days, plant research and crop management have fascinated me. I always felt food production would be a major concern for the world’s growing population. Nottingham University provided a perfect platform for my interest and it was the best decision I ever made.
MSc Crop Biotechnology and Entrepreneurship is a perfect course which has given me an insight into crop research as well as enhanced my business skills. It has taught me to critically analyse and build up an argument about a particular issue and not take things upfront . It has also enhanced my creativity on business side and made me think innovatively. It has greatly improved and built up my confidence to start up my own business. The various trips organised to biotech companies and research institutes have added to my knowledge about current research and market needs.
For my course I had lectures both at the Business school on the University’s Jubilee Campus as well as at Sutton Bonington Campus so I decided to live at Beeston. From here I had convenient access to both campuses on the free hopper buses. Sutton Bonington has a very pleasant environment and is a perfect place to study at and relax your mind. The academic staff were very helpful and the personal mentors and the tutors were very helpful in guiding individuals to their actual goals.
I joined many societies like the entrepreneurs society as well as the science society and many more which were very helpful during the course. The welcome week and the fairs were a complete success as they helped students socialise and also to find part time jobs.”
