Environmental Science research

Our environmental research ranges from fundamental studies of environmental and ecosystem processes to applied work related to soil, air and water pollution and remediation. World-leading work on soil biophysics, plant-soil interactions and soil-management strategies aligns with research in agriculture, plant and crop sciences.

Our researchers also lead on biogeochemical modelling and predicting the transport and fate of environmental contaminants. This work is complemented by research in applied and behavioural ecology and methodological studies including the development of approaches for controlling the complexity of environmental models.
