Bridging the Gaps Awards Winners 2009

 

Bridging the Gaps is delighted to announce funding awards totalling £15K to the following staff as part of the Bridging the Gaps Awards Programme:-
 

Bridging the Gaps Awards

  • Dr. Matt Clark (Engineering) and Dr. Jonathan Aylott (Pharmacy) – to develop and fabricate BioNanoCHOT sensors for biomedical, security and food applications.

 

Bridging the Gaps Plus Awards

  • Dr. Joel Segal (Engineering), Dr. Kim Hardie (Molecular Medical Sciences) and Dr. Jacqueline Randle (Nursing, Midwifery and Physiotherapy) – to develop an interactive device to encourage child hand hygiene.
  • Dr. Suchith Anand (Engineering), Prof. Richard James (Molecular Medical Sciences), Prof. Mike Jackson (Engineering), Dr. Didier Leibovici, Dr. Jerry Swan, Dr. James Goulding and Dr. Gobe Hobona (all Geography) – to investigate the use of geospatial mash-up technologies in health and disease mapping scenarios.
  • Prof. Penny Gowland (Physics and Astronomy), Dr. Donald Giddings, Prof. Henry Power (both Engineering) and Prof. Mike Vloeberghs (Medicine) – to measure cerebrospinal fluid flow to aid the modelling of hydrodynamics in the central nervous system.
  • Dr. Alan Chamberlain (Computer Science) and Dr. Gary Priestnall (Geography) – to explore geographical visualisation of personal narratives for creative tourism applications.

 

The winners will receive pump-prime funding, with the aim of developing these projects into long-standing research collaborations. Congratulations to them all!

 

NB. Bridging the Gaps Plus Awards are funded by a recent grant from the University of Nottingham to fund an expansion in the Bridging the Gaps project into the RCUK research domains of the Digital Economy and Lifelong Health and Wellbeing.
