Interdisciplinary Research Showcase

 

Date: Friday March 6th 2009

Time: 12noon to 2pm (with buffet lunch provided)

Venue: Senate Chamber, Trent Building, University Park

 

Provisional programme:

12pm - Arrival - browse the poster exhibition and chat with the Bridging the Gaps team, network with colleagues from all schools. Judging team will begin judging.

12.15pm - Opening of the Interdisciplinary Research Showcase by Professor Bob Webb, Pro-Vice Chancellor for Research, followed by a presentation by Professor Steve Benford, Director of Bridging the Gaps, including the launch of two new Bridging the Gaps funding opportunities.

12.30pm - Buffet lunch available, judging continues.

1.45pm - Announcement of winners of the poster competition.

2pm - Closing of the Interdisciplinary Research Showcase.

This University-wide Interdisciplinary Research Showcase to be held during National Science and Engineering Week 2009 will have the following attractions:-

 

  • Poster exhibition showcasing Nottingham’s highly diverse interdisciplinary research - posters will be split into five themed sections: Algorithms, Large Datsets, Modelling, Sensors and an 'Other' theme to reflect the breadth of interdisciplinary research across other areas.
  • Poster competition –the deadline for poster entries has passed, and we are unable to take any more entries due to space. Prizes are Amazon gift vouchers - £100 winner prizes and £50 runner-up prizes will be allocated amongst the 5 categories depending on the number of entries.
  • Launch of numerous new funding calls from Bridging the Gaps.
  • Lunch provided – this is an excellent networking opportunity.
  • Chance to meet with the Bridging the Gaps Directorate team and our Theme Champions.
