SEMINAR REGISTRATION
  1. Enter your University of Nottingham (Novell) username and password which are allocated to students on initial registration. Remember that both are case-sensitive.

  2. Click ‘Logon’. Then, from the dropdown list, select the Department which offers the module e.g. American and Canadian Studies, English, Philosophy, etc. Once selected, click ‘Go’.

  3. On the next screen, select ‘Undergraduate’ or ‘Postgraduate’ from the dropdown list. Click ‘Go’ again.

  4. You will then see a dropdown list of the modules your selected Department has made available on Nexus. Select the module you are taking and click ‘Go’ – remember to avoid clashes with any lectures or other seminar sessions you may already have.

  5. An activity dropdown list will now be visible. Click ‘Seminar’, then click ‘Go’. Note: if there is more than one activity in the dropdown list, e.g. Seminar 1, Seminar 2, students MUST register on both.

  6. All of the seminar session options for the module you selected are listed (there could be several depending on the size of the class).

  7. Once you have chosen a seminar, click the relevant ‘Sign me up for this slot’. Confirmation that you have been signed up for the seminar will show on the screen. Click ‘Continue’.

  8. Are you happy with your selection?

    • If yes, you can either ‘Logout’ or register for another seminar by clicking ‘Undergraduate’ and repeating the above process.

Note: American and Canadian Studies students registering for activities on Q41103 American Literature 1 will need to click ‘Activity’ and then follow the above instructions from 5. again to register for Seminar 2.

    • If no, you can cancel it by clicking ‘Continue’ and ‘Remove me from this slot’ on the next screen. The next screen shows confirmation that you have been removed from the seminar. To sign up for an alternative seminar session, click ‘Continue’ then follow the instructions above from step 5.

If you wish to remove yourself from a seminar group after you have logged out of the system, follow steps 1-8 again.

NOTES: The maximum number of places per seminar is usually 15-20. Once the maximum number of students have signed up, no-one else will be able to register on that particular seminar unless another student unregisters from the seminar.

To ensure security your NEXUS session will automatically be terminated after a short period of time that may necessitate you occasionally having to re-enter your username and password.
