Our aim is to produce work that is valued by the academic community and that has impact with interested stakeholders, such as policymakers, commercial firms and other financial services related organisations.
Our research is informed by latest academic thinking, rigorous in approach and relevant in application.
Research is focussed on a number of key themes:
Our banking research covers modelling and performance measurement using such techniques as stochastic frontier analysis and data envelopment analysis. Work is also being done on capital, Basel III, loan loss provisions and mortgage equity withdrawal.
Our risk research covers behaviour, risk escalation, financial and operational risk, crisis risk, risk attitudes and the economics of risk. Our work covers insurance, banking and other financial services companies.
Our key areas in financial services are consumer behaviour and decision making and the role of trust but we also examine fairness and professionalism, distribution strategies, brand issues, confusion and uncertainty in the sector.
