If you're a student at Nottingham and have an enterprising mind-set you're definitely in good company. Named as the first Entepreneurial University of the Year by The Times Higher Education in 2008, the University, through the Institute, supports a number of extra-curricular initiatives including the Ingenuity Lab and the Student Venture Challenge business plan competition.
The University is also fortunate to host a number of active societies run by students themselves. These include Nottingham Entrepreneurs, an SU affiliated society and the Enactus Nottingham team (previously Students In Free Enterprise).
The Ingenuity Lab can help students and graduates who are interested in setting up their own business.
The Undergraduate Ingenuity Prize is a business plan competition open to all Nottingham University undergraduate students.
The Biotechnology Young Entrepreneurs Scheme is a business plan competition aimed at bioscience postgrad and postdoctoral researchers.

- In 2014, MSc Entrepreneurship graduate Gerard Keeley started Vidsy, a London-based media company that crowdsources the production of micro video content for brands. Allowing brands to develop a direct connection with a millennial audience and drive engagement online, Vidsy aims to create authentic brand content that is entertaining and doesn't feel like advertising.
- Collwright Engineering was started by Ollie Wainwright and Matt Dawson, University of Nottingham students studying for their MSC in Mechanical Engineering. The company provides support for motorsport teams and suppliers, allowing them to outsource work to trained engineers who can work alongside design departments to assist with product development.
- Founded by University of Nottingham alumni Joel Freeman and Daniel Murray, Grabble is one of the most exciting new fashion apps available today. The "Tinder" style app provides users with millions of products from thousands of big brands including Topshop, Zara and Selfridges. Having raised £1.2m from angel investors, it is unsurprising that the app has already received over 100,000 downloads, with 10,000 daily actives generating over £500,000 in tracked transactions.
